it have been already a year passed since last years Astro Star Quest 2010 (2010年Astro新秀大赛) Mv shoot...
well this time of the year i am now on my own....
this i shoot my own MV not working for any directors this time....
well directing is not easy ...
tough and brain consuming... but another fun for me

this Mv is all plan, directed, art direct, director of photography, editing and so on by me....
well i did have my own crew to this time...
and who else if it isn't my team of warriors the Zoo Frenz...
having them around helping was my pleasure...

well shooting this is very challenging 1 day, 1 Mv, 1 artist, 1 winner, 1 director, and 1 camera
faced tonnes of troubles like... traffic completely blocked from entering the artist's hotel due to a gargantuan marathon held around KL....
Then a race against time as everything has been delayed....
then camera kept overheating....
the prop Vespa we were supposed to used broke down... had to rewrite the script and flow on the spot...
well then location of house problem ...
well and a lot of teeny weeny problems didn't mention...
but doing it was my passion and lucky with gods blessing everything seems to end quite ok although its not what i wanted but i manage to finished it....

Interning...

June 1st marks the day i start interning ....
everyone my batch is working d.... me and Boon in Cat Eyes Studio, Chili in Live Publisher, Gacky in Ogilvy and Mather, Bao in Evention Media, Jean Cui in Pikaland, Kevin in Bold Trees and Muk in Techmax if the spelling is correct....

everyone is working as intern.... in different company.....
kinda very different from studying in uni...
in office we just work with only colleagues no longer like uni a bunch of friends

The place consist of Kenny the Creative Director and the boss, Jessica the boss too and Ann which is the wife of Kenny handling all adminstrative department ....
next door Jet Tv which is their sister company ....

well my first day as intern already must go shooting....
its a shooting of an infomercial of Anmum Essentials.....
the talents were their ambassador Wardina Safiyyah....
their clients are BBDO Advertising agencies...

so my boss gave me and Boon a few task to do...
i did some edging up pictures for the infomercial and touching up not for getting the astro dunno what show is that...(ps: its some kind of girly show)

we were taught about camera's for photo's and video's
about alot of things even editing and design tools....
hahahaha because me and Boon are staying down to earth act like what also dunno
because if we know then we wont be able to have the chance to learn skills from other people as they might think we know already....
so we prefer to say dunno not sure and haven't tried before to keep our self safe

well in office our boss say if got no job please do not ask for any and please go watch TV got astro or use the computers that are free to facebook please...
haiz feel so funny ler.... because during working time we are doing other things like kind of wrong .....

well this is just the 1st week hopefully everything will be better and working out good
6 days work a week with just RM 500 allowance ....
hoping everything will be cool....
well they say we are a big family hopefully everything goes well witht his family

MISF...

last week was working in MISF under De Marcs Event Management....
i was working as crew there....
i do admit it was fun as we went there as a bunch of friends
(Ps: consist of Burger,Chili, Chun Hwa,EJ upposedly Kevin,Gacky,Jean Cui,Shone, Tupai and Xin Leng)

well i never really work as a crew as part of the organizer before but it was quite and experience.
well know some new friends and earn some money that is what that matters the most hahahaha...

MISF was kinda cool as they manage to bring Jimmy Choo in and not forgeting Zang Toi too...
international giants well its a good start...

I was supposed to work in the information counter accompanied by EJ and Hawaii but i was later on shifted to the shoe painting section as there is not enough man-power there...
Gacky was there we were like painting the shoe most of the time as demo....
well it was fun at 1st but when the people keep asking the same FREAKING Question i got annoyed.... What question you ask ???

well this is how it goes
"Leng Zai Li gor hor yi sai mou ?"
"Boleh Cuci tak ?"
"Can it be washed ?"
"Gam Yao Lok hoi mm hor yi tahan ei loi ?"
"It wont come if it rains ?"
"Basuh dengan sabun boleh tanggal tak ?"

try listening to the exact same question repeated every 20 seconds for more than 10 hours will go ballistic... ???

i was like ARGGHHHHHHHHH can some one ask another question ????

but i manage to finish my painted shoe hehehe and its free....
yippie .... but mine is just Pallas Canvas Shoes but Jean Cui got Zang Toi's heels worth of 300 MYR crazy isn't .....
well my shoe just cost 20 MYR sucks to the max....

well anyways i am gonna show my masterpiece here....

The Famine !

well this is another catch up post
this talks about 30 Hours of Famine....

well this is an annual event sponsored by World Vision to support children from around the world from hunger and education....
well the tradition is those campers will have to puasa but they can drink water but not eating....
for 30 hours.....
so the entry fee for the camp will be by collecting donations for a minimum of 150 ringgit....
ps: honestly i think its kinda ripped off hahahaa

i volenteered myself as photographer in one the DIY camp conducted before proceeding to gargantuan countdown in Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil...
but due to the influenza A(H1N1) alot of precaution has to be made as they are handling with thousands of people ....
so antiseptic sprays, mask, and thermal check-up is done one by one which made the whole process a little bit slow....

it was a nice experience seeing all the people starving and achieving their goals after 30 hours ...
but all they did it was for a good cause...
although some may not be sincere though but whatever it is whoever really did it deserves a sign of respect a salute from me....
so people who didn't really famine themselves please .....
"put your pillow higher and think properly" its a Cantonese saying hahaha....
hopefully the next time you will be sincere .....

Realize !

was kinda busy with all my assignments and projects and finally after 4 days 3 nights without sleep and 3 nights and 2 days without rest me n my team finally defeated all the lazy bones in ourselves and finished up our very own flash game for pre-scholers from age 3 and above....
so hope the kids will like our game....

sigh.... so tired these few days....

but after neglecting my blog so long i figure i should continue post something about what readers should not be missing in... this little chapter of my life....

I have recently did a campaign about the cleanliness of Malaysia...
its for our Creative Strategy for Advertising finals....
well we did a radio advertisement, a set of printed advertisement and a Public Service Advertisement....

i am the director for the PSA....
it was my 1st time directing something...
so i hope readers can gimme some comments about my PSA...
every sweat and blood counts as we have to overcome alot of obsacles like....

1) Casting manager failing to do her job....
so our Cast are very limited...

2) Time rundown not very clear and not strict enough by the producer me....

3) Continuity manager loosing a part of the continuity sheet....
(makes the editor havign a hard time editing)

4) traffic jams....

5) technical problem from the camera.....

6) main actress the aunty wants to go back early for her busy schedule....

7) Rushing Schedule as we have to shoot the PSA in a day time .... so time is not enough



and many more but those are just small cases ....
but all those obstacles with all the help of my teammates we manage to finish it ....
as leader of the group i would like to express my gratitude to teammates....
i apologize for all the harsh things i said ...
i dont mean to be pushy and choosy but its for the good of everyone hope you guys will forgive me.....
and thank to all the actors and actress involve ribuan terima kasih ku ucapkan.....

MY FM .... Anniversarry ...

well have been busy lately...
cant even stop and breath....
haven't stop to even think....
everything is like changing and evolving as time passes like a cyclone.... damn
i still have tonnes of post waiting t be post up....

well this post is about my lonely trip up to Genting....
well as usual i have to work to make a living...
well this time i am work as a personal assistant for Director Chiu from astro....
well my job basically is to look after the trophy of "My Astro Zhi Jun Liu Hang Bang'S" trophy
(to be exact i am the security guard) ok whatever that is....

this how the award looks like.....


well here comes the good part.... i went up there already 5 o'clock then work until 7 o'clock....
go makan with Director Chiu ... then masuk to the arena of star to watch the MYFM 11th anniversary 2009.... the worse thing....is... i am working alone i don't know where to go or where to sit... as Director Chiu said i do whatever i like lar.... although i have the passes to do so but still awkward as i don't have anything to do anymore....
then the whole arena is packed ....
i was thinking what am i gonna do....
i don't have anyone to ask .... coz Director Chiu ask me to do whatever i want..

so to be independent i walk around like working in the arena hahahahaha
but actually i am not hahahaha.....
then later on i walk to the VIP area to have my sit...
well there is no other place to sit anymore.....

PS: due to this work i can't go to MTV's big gig called MTV world stage.....
well kinda upset but.... never mind i can still live with that

but no respond only EJ replied... after a few sms oso tak ada d.... again wondering.....
but i again i was saved.... but this time by Vernon.... but he seems like busy with his stuff....
so i tell him Director Chiu coming d.... lol....
again alone deng.......!!! but was very lucky met Alex and GF, Myers and Edison...
but nothing to talk.... dunno what are this lecturers talking about.... so its back to square 1...
then there like a ding dong for sometime d..... finally Director Chiu is going back ....
phew .... reach home in the morning argh....
then monday uni and assignments again....

daily routine....

gonna post all the rest of my life soon.... after this friday....

Astro Star Quest 09 Mv shoot : Min MV shoot Vernon's Pride Debut

As i told you guys besides my close friend my brother also join the competition.....
the Astro Star Quest MV director competition ...
shooting the song of the final 5 composer and the final 5 singers
there's 5 finalist all together Ryan, Alvin, Yoke, Min and Kah Fai
so Edmond took the opportunity to shoot Kah Fai's MV then Vernon my Bro took on Min's MV

both of them have different taste and style ...
Vernon is the emo and lomo dude....
shooting his MV will bring in alot of Taiwan elements as he is an undergraduate from Ming Chuan University Tao Yuan.... so his style will also be a little bit different from homegrown directors
Vernon plays with setting elements, lighting elements and all the atmosphere elements
Vernon don't have much props as Edmond
but he is one fussy guy when it comes to his work (thats a good thing though because he is serious in his work)

finding his location is very hard as he needs full length glass window, bath tub, modern interior house and anything unlike Malaysia ....
i was like think aren't we in Malaysia ? then how to find things thats not Malaysian ?
i still remember he said

Vernon: you got tv mah ?
Gino: got why ?
Vernon: i need it and how does it look like ?
Gino: its silver color and kinda old d ...
Vernon: got any that don't look like Malaysian TV ?

i was like huh ??? aren't all tv the same ???
hahahaha
have make alot phone calls and pull alot of strings and finally found a place he needs
he will be shooting Min's MV with a mandarin title "The Best Ending" song of sorrow too just like Kah Fai's

its a challenge with both different director's different style and we have to change according with time of a day only (Edmonds shoot on Saturday and Vernon's Sunday)

Astro Star Quest 09 Mv shoot : Kah Fai MV shoot Edmond's 1st Love Story

last week i help my close friend Edmond to shoot this MV for ASQ09 one of the final 5 Kah Fai's MV
well it was an experience on challenging newer grounds as Edmond's style is different this time
he challenge alot of colors rather then gray, black and white....
and this time Edmond is taking on a love story and a sweet one that is this time
so its very different from all his previous master piece

well Kah Fai's song is kinda nise his song "Next Life" a Cantonese song...
u can catch it on MyFm because Astro is selling the final 5 song very hard....

this time i did feel the challenge in props .....
the challenge of moving a big gigantic props from 1 scene to another
well its not easy but i have to do it too
well been multitasking finding location and making props

luckily the outcome is good
i really like it alot
can feel the sorrowness

so its a challenge to shoot a MV with just a DSLR instead of a DVCam
